If you suspect you might be Gluten Intolerant, it's important to check that the symptoms are not being caused by Dairy Intolerance - because some of the symptoms can be the same.
First you need to look in the Symptoms Matrix (you must register first) to decide which food intolerance matches your particular collection of symptoms.
The best treatment for Gluten sensitivity is a Gluten-free diet for life. You will find comprehensive guides to eating Gluten-free in The Tuesday Club.
Gluten intolerance or Celiac Disease is atopic, which means it runs in families. If you are Celiac then 10% of your first degree relatives (brothers, sisters, children and parents) will also be Celiac - even if they show no symptoms.
Alternatively you can be Gluten sensitive without being strictly Celiac. That is, there are many people in the world (up to 15%) who have different symptoms from the usual gastro-intestinal Celiac symptoms, and who improve dramatically on a gluten-free diet. To match your symptoms go to the Symptoms Matrix (must register first).
The most important point about Gluten Sensitivity to avoid serious long-term health risks is to do something to eliminate your symptoms. You need to positively identify the problem food.
By far the most effective way to identify any food intolerance is to do The Detection Diet, which will positively identify which foods you should avoid. Find it at The Tuesday Club.
Our comprehensive guide to eating Gluten-free is available at The Tuesday Club.
You need a Journal
To go Gluten-free you need a journal to record all your symptoms and foods eaten over a period of weeks. The Detection Diet has a built-in journal.
Then use The Tuesday Club guidebooks like the Compleat Guide to Gluten-free. These have comprehensive guides on how to substitute gluten-bearing foods, a Shopping Guide, Meal Guide and Recipes. It also has a Dining Out Guide for eating in restaurants while staying Gluten-free.
